Congress only secular force to keep country united: AICC

Congress in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir Affairs Mainul Haque today said that the party was the only force that would keep the country united and cater to every section of the society.

"Congress is the only secular force which can represent each section of our pluralistic society and keep the country united and march in the path of all round development and prosperity," Haque said, addressing a meeting at Jatwal in Kathua district.

He said the Congress had during its 129 years proved to be a unifying force in the country and no other party can claim to represent each section and each village of this country.

The Congress secretary lashed out at divisive politics pursued by the BJP and others, which created hatred on the bases of caste, region and religion, and cautioned the people saying they posed a threat to the secular fabric of the nation.

He also asked the party workers to gear up to defeat such forces while assuring that Congress would ensure unity, integrity and equitable development.

Listing out Congress' major achievements, Haque said the party had given the people Right To Information, Right to Education, Right to Employment (NREGA), Right to Food Security and Right to Land and stressed that these were tools to fight corruption at all levels.

The empowerment of Panchayats aimed at involvement of people in the government at the grassroot level was another achievement of Congress, he said and assured the workers that their feedback in all important decisions would be given due attention by party leadership.

Senior leaders of Congress highlighted various demands of the people besides raising their voice against the non implementation of issues of public concern, and maintained that Congress would emerge as the strongest party in all three regions of the state.
