In a lucky escape, former Union Minister and Congress MP Adhir Chowdhury has survived a massive road accident on Sunday. 

Adhir Chowdhury, who is West Bengal Congress President was travelling from Kolkata to his home district of Murshidabad. The accident took place near Rejinagar check post around 3.10 pm when the former Union minister was going to Raghunathganj. On the way, a speeding container hit his car near Rejinagar in National Highway 34 His car has been completely battered by the severity of the crash, But according to reports, Adhir Chowdhury and his guards have escaped unhurt. Adhir Chowdhury is Lok Sabha MP from Berhampore. 

 Murshidabad SP Mukesh told PTI that they have detained the driver of the container. "We are conducting a probe into the matter and the culprit will face action as per law," the SP said.  "I was sleeping and did not realise that my car was hit. I thank my driver as he did a great job, otherwise something bad could have happened," Chowdhury told PTI. "I am fine now and heading towards Raghunathganj," the Congress leader said.
