The Congress Party on Saturday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as a unit which was only hungry for power and driven by arrogance and dictatorial tendencies.

"This was a party which came out of some principals but became a party only hungry for power and all the benefits of power. The entire perception of AAP is completely away from reality," said Congress spokesperson Sandeep Dikshit.

"I have known Arvind ji for a while and I know what drives him. These people are only driven by lust for power, arrogance and dictatorial tendencies," he added.

Dikshit also claimed that the public would repay the AAP for what they had done to their members today.

Earlier on Saturday, AAP's founder members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan were removed from the party's national executive. Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha were also removed from the national executive.

According to reports, a resolution to remove the two dissident leaders was passed by around 230 of around 300 national council members present in the meeting. 247 members voted in favour of the motion, 8 against and 44 abstained from voting.

Talking to the media after the meeting that was chaired by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, Yogendra Yadav said that democracy has been murdered in the meet. Prashant Bhushan on his part said the meeting was a mockery as their voices were suppressed and Lokpal was absent.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh, however, later said the reports of scuffle during the meeting are completely baseless and untrue.

Earlier on Friday, Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav had hit out at Kejriwal, accusing him of stifling internal democracy and adopting unfair means to capture power.

They alleged that any issue raised by them was being projected as questioning Kejriwal's leadership and attempts to remove him from the post of AAP's national convener.

Another Congress leader PC Chacko took on AAP and it's infighting.

“That party is bound to fail and split because they were trying to make people believe that they are something different but all of know that they are just not different. They are just for power and nothing else,” said Chacko.

The Congress leader also used the occasion to take potshots at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“It is their internal affair. But the Chief Minister of Delhi, a person who claims to be a role model in public life, is raising acquisitions and allegations against all leaders in party. The language he is using against his own colleague is the reflection of his culture,” Chacko said.

“And it is most unfortunate if that sting operation clippings that have come out, if it is true, then Mr. Kejriwal should tender and apologise publically. Because it is a misbehaviour, which is unbecoming of a person holding the post of Chief Minister,” he added.
