Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today alleged that Congress leaders had forgotten the sacrifices made by freedom fighters.

"After the Independence, Congress leaders in the country appear to have simply forgotten the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters," Chouhan said while addressing a function at the NCC grounds here on the occasion of the 137th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

"The India we see today is the result of the efforts made by this great leader (Patel)," Chouhan said.

"I am of the view that it was because of Sardar Patel that the princely states got merged into India soon after the Independence," Chouhan said.

Holding India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru responsible for the Kashmir problem, Chouhan alleged, "Nehru did a number of wrong things that led to the creation of the Kashmir problem."

On the recently-concluded investors meet at Indore, he said MOUs worth Rs56,000 crore had been signed that would "help wipe out the unemployment problem from the state."
