In an election whose fate will largely depend upon the image of the leading parties on social networking sites, especially among populations in cities, the BJP brand has captured the nation's imagination. The Congress however had flailed significantly in comparison. Before the results are to be announced Congress leader Ajay Maken has admitted to their weak campaign.

Maken has even been quoted as having said, "We could not match up to the resources of the BJP. We could not match up to their ad campaign, the full page ads they came up with...,"

As the party scurries to save Rahul Gandhi's image after he failed to attend the dinner honoring Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Maken says he did thank Singh for his leadership and that he is back.

When Maken was asked if the party concedes defeat he stated that although the Congress did do a lot of work, they were not able to effectively communicate it to the people.

The Congress has also seen to have had a lacklustre campaign as compared to BJP, something that Maken justified as having said Our social media campaign only started last June."
