The Congress party has taken out a 'three day bus yatra' on Saturday in the run-up to the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The slogan of the rally is '27 Saal, UP Behaal' (27 years, UP in distress).

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, and VP Rahul Gandhi flagged off the rally today. The chief ministerial candidate of the party for the Uttar Pradesh elections Sheila Dikshit, newly-appointed state unit chief Raj Babbar and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad were present on the occasion.

All the leaders and workers of the party have been asked to ensure that the road show turns out to be a grand success, said Agnihotri, adding there is a plan to take it to all the wards of the city. The entire city is adorned with the Congress colours on the day in the form of flags, banners, posters etc., he said, adding that the venue for the public meeting is yet to be decided.

According to NDTV, the agenda of the party is to target all parties that have ruled in the country's largest state.

Rahul Gandhi is set to meet 50,000 party workers  in Lucknow next week while Sonia Gandhi will hold a roadshow in Varanasi, which is PM Modi's constituency.

Rahul and Sonia Gandhi are the only people to have been re-elected in the state.
