The Congress Party on Sunday dubbed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' programme to be a political propaganda and said the ruling dispensation at the Centre has failed to live up to the expectations of the people.

Congress leader PC Chacko disapproved Prime Minister Modi's statement that the government led by him is functional.

"Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on 'Mann Ki Baat' programme that it is a working government, now that is a wrong statement. Even he knows that," Chacko said.

"This is not 'Mann Ki Baat' but political propaganda. The promises that (Prime Minister) Modi made in the run up to the elections in the last one year have not been implemented. Also, one by one, all the centrally funded schemes are being dropped. The farmers are in distress, every section of the society is unhappy. I don't know what kind of work this government is doing," he addded.

Chacko further said there are allegations against the ministers but Prime Minister Modi is not initiating any action against them.

"Prime Minister Modi has not taken any action when his own External Affairs Minister and Chief Minister are under fire. This is not a functioning government and I think what he said on 'Mann Ki Baat' does not stand the testimony of facts," he added.
