Downplaying the recent rejig in the Goa Congress, the grand old party on Sunday said that it was mere a routine internal organisational change which happens from time to time.

"This does not really mean anything. These are routine internal organisational changes which keep taking place. People are given newer responsibility and newer people are given old responsibility," said Congress leader Manish Tewari.

However, expelled Congress leader Trajaon Dmello said that the reshuffle in the party reflects the internal war and disintegration of the grand old party.

"The removal of Digvijaya Singh as in-charge of Goa is clear indication that the internal war has begun within the Congress. This is indication of disintegration of Goa Congress Party. I myself have been expelled three days ago without giving me any reason. I had only questioned as why pre poll alliance was not made," Dmello told ANI. He further said that Digvijaya Singh, who was removed as in-charge of Goa Congress, was working to bring progressive secular forces together which was sabotaged by the party president Sonia Gandhi.

In a major reshuffle, Congress party president Sonia Gandhi yesterday replaced office bearers in charge of party units in Goa. A statement issued by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Janardhan Dwivedi, stated that A. Chella Kumar has been made in-charge of Congress matters in Goa, replacing veteran leader Digvijaya Singh.

The party also eased out Madhusudan Mistry as AICC general secretary in the state and appointed Amit Deshmukh for the post.
