Before screening committee’s meeting, to be held in Delhi, the Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) members have been asked to arrive at consensus on a single name from the panel of three probable candidates finalised by PEC’s sub committee from each constituency. Highly placed sources informed that directions in this regard have been issued by party’s state in-charge Gurudas Kamat. Party’s senior leadership has asked the PEC to complete selection process as early as possible.
“The meeting has been called to form consensus on single names from the panel in each constituency. The decision has been taken to avoid any difference among the senior leaders after the candidates are finalised,” said a senior leader.
“Intentions are same. Earlier month long exercise were conducted in state so that no can blame that party and leaders have taken undue favours while distributing the tickets and now party wants to dilute possible confrontation among seniors over final candidate, he added.
The meeting will be attended by chief minister Ashok Gehlot, PCC chief Chandrabhan, Girija Vyas, CP Joshi and all the members of sub committees.
The PEC meeting either takes place in the PCC office or in Delhi but chances of meeting in Jaipur are very low as the chief minister, till late Saturday night, was camping in Delhi. Sources informed that party will not take risk to carry out the exercise in Jaipur as it may backfire if name of final candidates are leaked. The meeting of PEC is likely to take place in New Delhi.
Once mutual consensus is formed over single names, the names will be forwarded to the screening committee where leaders will have to give reason that why the candidate deserves party ticket.
In the final process the feedback earlier taken by the AICC observers and results of various surveys conducted by party in Rajasthan will compared with the final name after which party high command will take the final decision.
