Congress leader Randeep Surjewala on Tuesday said that the party strongly condemns Union Minister of State Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's use of abusive language while addressing voters.
"Congress condemns this in the strongest manner possible. This is politics of derogation and hate unleashed by Modi government. We would like to know what actions the Prime Minister would like to take against the union minister."
"Respected ministers in Narendra Modi's government use such language under a well planned agenda. They are doing it so that Delhi can be divided on communal agendas," he added.
Furthermore, Congress leader Ashwani Kumar said that such statements reflected the narrow-mindedness of the Bharatiya Janata Party. "It shows narrow-mindedness of the BJP, such statement has never been made in the history of democracy before," Kumar said.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal said that the Prime Minister should teach his cabinet the use of parliamentary language.
"Such language shouldn't be used by political leaders. The Prime Minister must teach his cabinet the use of parliamentary language," Agarwal said.
Earlier today, Sadhvi Niranjan said that she did not mean to target any particular person or party but separatists.
"I did not take name of any particular individual, community or party. I was talking about separatist parties and leaders who think of dividing the country and who do not consider themselves to be a part of India," said Jyoti.
Earlier on Monday, the union minister had used abusive words to urge voters to choose between candidates, while addressing voters in west Delhi's Shyam Nagar.
Her choice of words garnered strong criticism from various political parties.
