Congress on Friday complained to the Election Commission against BJP over Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's press conference on the eve of the Assembly polls in Delhi, charging him with violating the Model Code of Conduct.
"The holding of press conference is prohibited and the BJP has been conducting a campaign during the prohibited period for campaign. This is clear violation of R. P. Act and Model Code of Conduct," AICC in-charge of Delhi P C Chacko said.

In a communication to the Election Commission, he sought immediate action against BJP for such a violation. Noting that Jaitley is a former Law Minister and also the Union Finance Minister of the BJP-led NDA government, Chacko said he is aware of the law and has "grossly violated the Model Code of Conduct".

Speaking separately, another party spokesman Randeep Surjewala said the EC has taken "due notice" of the action of Jaitley. He also accused BJP and AAP of trying to divide people on the line of caste and community claiming that this was reflective from a Dera coming out in support of BJP while a religious leader declaring support to AAP.
