The Congress today claimed its victory the Jharkhand government announced withdrawal of bills relating to the amendment of Chhotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act and Santhal Pargana Tenancy (SPT) Act after they were returned by Governor Droupadi Murmu.

Former Union minister and Congress spokesperson RPN Singh said this happened after a protest of the Congress party at Ranchi Vidhan Sabha yesterday.

Singh said the protest by the Congress at Vidhan Sabha yesterday saw the police resorting to lathi-charge and use of water cannons to disperse party workers who tried to gherao the state assembly on the second day of the monsoon session.

The Congress workers also protested the government's failure to curb incidents of mob lynching and farmer suicides.

Singh alleged that the BJP government after coming to power has tried to "usurp" farmers' land and the Congress is fighting for them.
