Don't be surprised if you stop coming across television ads for condoms during the day time. According to a report in The Telegraph, centre is reviewing a proposal to limit television ads for condoms to late-night hours only.

All this is being done at the instruction of Information and Broadcast ministry on the ground of complaints from politicians as well as viewers across the section.

As per the Broadcast regulations, television content is classified in two categories; general (G) and restricted (R). The R content, which isn't deemed appropriate for young viewers, is allowed to be aired only between a time slot of 11 pm to 5 am.

Officials of the I&B ministry are quoted saying in the report that they are receiving a lot of complaints about condom ads being aired in the day time.

If The Telegraph's sources are to be believed, an inter-ministerial committee is set to debate the issue soon which may result in all condom ads being shown only during 'adult' hours.
