Intensifying its attack on Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, the Congress alleged on Tuesday that companies associated with him got an exposure of Rs 1200 crore, apart from giving a "haircut" loan waiver of 65 per cent on the outstanding loan amount of over Rs 650 crore to one of the companies.

The Congress demanded the removal of Goyal as Union Minister and sought a judicial investigation to be ordered by a sitting Supreme Court Judge. The party alleged that Shirdi Industries Limited, whose directors are Rakesh Aggarwal and Mukesh Bansal, has affiliations with Goyal and his family members.

"It was also revealed that a consortium of banks led by Union Bank of India, had taken a hit of 65 per cent haircut loan waiver of a total loan of Rs 651.87 owed by Shirdi Industries Limited, a company of which Piyush Goyal is a former Chairman and Director," Congress Spokesperson Pawan Khera said.

Despite Shirdi Industries Ltd being declared 'sick', their sister company Asis Industries proceeded to grant an unsecured loan of Rs 1.59 crore in 2015-16 to Intercon Advisors Pvt Ltd, a company owned by Seema Goyal, the wife of the Union Minister. He questioned how Intercon Advisors Pvt Ltd with paid-up capital of Rs 1 lakh ended up with earnings of Rs 30 crore, that is, earning Rs 30,000 per share of the total 10,000 allotted shares.

Further, he alleged that Goyal and his family members were replaced by Rakesh Aggarwal and Mukesh Bansal and their family members in 11 companies, mostly after Goyal became a cabinet minister.

The party also claimed that Asis Plywood Limited has an exposure of Rs 458 crore and Asis India Infrastructure Limited has an exposure of Rs 457 crore. Both the companies are associated with Aggarwal and Bansal. One more company, Asis Industries Limited, has a loan exposure of Rs 285 crore.

"Apprehension again is similar that these loans/charges may not meet the same fate as in case of Shirdi Industries Limited. What is more interesting is that Shirdi Industries Limited, Asis Plywood Limited, Asis India Infrastructure Limited, and Asis Industries Limited have a common email id," he alleged.

Congress also circulated a set of documents pertaining to the companies associated with Goyal and demanded his removal as cabinet minister.
