Former CM Ashok Gehlot has blamed the BJP’s alleged misuse of social media for communalising minds of youngsters as one of the reasons for Congress’ loss in the elections.

In a statement, Gehlot said that during elections in past prior to this and which were held after emergency, the party had got 41 seats. He said that this is not the defeat of Congress but a win for communal forces and the Congress just got 21 seats, reflecting its worst performance in the state.

He has linked Gujarat CM Narendra Modi’s working style with that of Germany’s Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels and blamed Modi’s similar policies for the defeat of Congress in the state.

Blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Narendra Modi for indulging in a vicious propaganda, he said that it’s like the propaganda of Goebbels, that a lie which is said 100 times looks like a truth. “They (the BJP) propagated lies and baseless things which are not in the favour of the country,” he added.

He also accepted that the issues like inflation were also responsible but also claimed that while the prices increased, the purchasing power of the people had also increased.

Coming back to the subject of youngsters, he said that it’s easy to misdirect youth who is not aware of sacrifices made by the surviving Gandhi family and added that BJP is known for dividing people on communal basis.

As per Gehlot, Ayodhya was an issue during the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said that secular forces should understand the dangers of such politics. He said that the youth should try to avoid such things.

After serving as the CM of the state for two terms, Gehlot also said that he had not been having expectation of any post and added that Congress party had always trusted him.
