Two persons were arrested today for allegedly raping a teenage college girl in a moving vehicle in the state capital.
"Police have arrested two men on charge of gang rape of a college girl in the city on Friday. The victim was raped by the duo who gave her a lift in a car," commissioner of police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, BK Sharma told reporters.
A case was registered against them under section 376 (rape) (2-g), 363 (kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping for marriage) and 506 criminal intimidation)of IPC.
The accused were identified as Manoranjan Sahu alias Bapu, a real estate businessman and Ajay Malia alias Tina, a local trader, police said.
Both the victim and accused youths were medically examined, Sharma said adding the vehicle used in the crime was also seized. The police swung into action after the victim lodged a complaint at Mahila police station yesterday.
The incident, police said, took place on Friday evening when the girl was waiting for a bus at the busy station square area. She was spotted by the two youths, one being a friend of her brother-in-law.
"I accepted his (brother-in-law's friend) offer of lift little knowing real intention," the girl said in the FIR adding that she was taken towards Old Town area and raped in turn in the moving vehicle.
The victim had also alleged that one of the accused had recorded her nude pictures in his mobile phone.
