Coimbatore: Girl commits suicide after being humiliated by college lecturer

A second year B. Com student in a private college in Coimbatore committed suicide allegedly after her college lecturer humiliated her. Kala Vani, 19, was reportedly humiliated in the classroom in front of her classmates. 

A report in Deccan Chronicle states that she had left behind a suicide note in which she alleged that her college lecturer asked her to make a presentation without giving her time to prepare though she requested for it. When Kala Vani didn’t do the presentation well on Monday, her lecturer apparently humiliated and insulted her. Her classmates are said to have laughed at her. 

The report states that Kala Vani drank pesticide and was found unconscious on Monday night. Her mother took her to private hospital first but she was transferred to Coimbatore Medical College and hospital as her condition was critical. She died on Tuesday morning. 

The report adds that Kala Vani had also asked the police to take action against the lecturer in her note. The police have now booked the lecturer under abetment of suicide.
