Over 150 CPI workers were arrested in Coimbatore on Tuesday for staging a demonstration demanding the resignation of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palanisami, for allegedly neglecting the interests of the people and the state.
The workers, including 50 women raised slogans against the ruling party, which they claimed has become a puppet in the hands of BJP-led Central government.
CPI district secretary, V S Sundaram said that after the death of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, AIADMK has become a puppet in the hands of BJP and its government at the Centre.
Due to internal squabble, the ruling AIADMK was not able to focus on governance, as a result of which the law and order situation was deteriorating and various people welfare projects lay pending, he alleged.
