The Gujarat government will launch 'Seema Darshan' programme for the public to visit the border regions in Banaskantha district to get better understanding of how Border Security Force works, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said on Sunday. Rupani celebrated Diwali with BSF jawans at Nadabet border outpost in Banaskantha district on the Indo-Pak border.

He met the jawans and distributed sweets among them. "The chief minister said that for the public to know about drills, modes of surveillance, and weapons used by BSF jawans, the government will launch 'Seema Darshan' programme on lines of what is conducted at the Wagha border," an official release said.

The chief minister also told the jawans that the government will talk to the mobile service providers to set up mobile towers in the region to improve mobile connectivity, the release said. During his visit, Rupani was briefed by BSF Inspector General Ajay Tomar who accompanied him to the border outpost.

The chief minister was accompanied by his wife Anjali and state Health Minister Shankar Chaudhary. Praising commitment of the BSF jawans to protect the borders, Rupani said this ensured that the countrymen enjoyed their Diwali celebrations peacefully, it said.

He told them that the recently-conducted surgical strikes on terrorist launchpads across the LoC has not only boosted the morale of the jawans but also of the public, the release said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also celebrated Diwali on Sundday with Army and ITBP personnel at Sumdo in Himachal Pradesh, over 270 km from state capital Shimla.
