Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday announced a stay on all the transactions pertaining to land deal in connection with the Koyna Dam project-affected persons (PAP) which were under question. The CM said the stay would be there for any more transactions and land deals till the judicial inquiry is over in the alleged scam.

The Opposition has alleged a major scam in the allotment of 9.82 hectare land in Kharghar which according to leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, was sold to a builder at throw away price. Vikhe-Patil alleged that land worth Rs 2,000 crore was handed to a builder for just Rs 3.5 crore.

Refuting the allegations, Fadnavis on Thursday had announced a judicial probe into these allegations. He claimed the said land was 'agricultural land' and its value as per the ready reckoner was Rs 5.30 crore. Fadnavis had retaliated by informing the House that there were 200 land deals involving 606 hectare in the same manner during the tenure of the previous government and it amounted to Rs 50,000 crore. The CM said that the judicial inquiry would also probe these 200 land deals.

Mumbai Pradesh Congress president Sanjay Nirupam had addressed a press conference alleging that the CM has provided false information that the said land did not belong to CIDCO. Nirupam said that he would move court. Fadnavis while making a statement in the State Legislative Council announced that there would be stay on all these deals till the judicial inquiry is over.

The CM told the legislative council that orders have been given to the district collector that no transaction should be carried out till the judicial probe is over. Also, it should be ensured that no third party interest is created in the said land.
