Cloudburst in Kashmir: Two bodies recovered; several feared dead

Several people are feared dead following a cloudburst in Pahalgam area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Sunday.

After the police deployed rescue teams to search for victims, two bodies were retrieved, while two others are believed to be missing in Arru village of Pahalgam, a police official said.

The boys had gone for an outing when the incident happened, he added. The identity of the deceased or the missing has not yet been ascertained, the official said, adding the search for the missing persons is on.

According to reports, atleast eight people were washed away in the afternoon in Pahalgam. Cattle was also believed to have been washed away in the incident. 

Heavy rainfall was recorded in Kashmir since Saturday night. Kashmir also witnessed major floods in September 2014.
