Former petroleum minister M. Veerappa Moily on Thursday avoided commenting on Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan's remark that it was common for papers to be leaked during the tenure of previous government, saying he would give a reply on the floor of the House

"I won't reply to the media. I will reply on the floor of the House," he told ANI here.

Pradhan earlier on Thursday said that it was common for papers to be leaked during the tenure of previous governments but added that the BJP-led government was taking many precautions.

"These things used to happen previous(ly) also, but this new government is very conscious of this leakage. We have increased our surveillance, agencies are on their job, they will come out with full facts," he said.

Pradhan further said the suspects, who allegedly leaked classified information from his ministry, will be severely dealt with.

Meanwhile, Petroleum and Natural Gas Secretary Saurabh Chandra said this is a serious issue, adding that strict action would be taken against those involved.

"As soon as we get the report from the Delhi Police, we will initiate whatever action is required," he added.

As per reports, two officials of the Petroleum Ministry are among five arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly leaking classified government documents.

Reports further state that the classified information, which had many policy details, was allegedly meant to be shared with corporate houses.
