Elections in Andhra Pradesh, where polling took place to 25 Lok Sabha seats and 175 Assembly seats, saw clashes between TDP and YSR Congress workers, leading to the death of a TDP leader, S Bhaskar Reddy. Technical glitches in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at some polling booths as well as voter deletion cases marred the poll process. The state election officers have put the voting percentage at 73 per cent.

Additionally, in Guntakal, former MLA and contesting candidate of Jana Sena Party, Madhusudan Gupta, smashed an EVM in anger alleging that party symbols were not properly printed on the ballot unit. He was later arrested. In Eluru, a YSRCP worker was seriously injured when TDP workers allegedly attacked him at a polling station. And in Jammalamadugu in Kadapa, tension prevailed in Ponnathota village as YSRCP and TDP workers indulged in stone-throwing.

In Narsaraopet constituency in Guntur district, YSRC leaders alleged TDP men ransacked a polling station in Yelamanda village and damaged the furniture.

CM Chandrababu Naidu said ballot papers should be introduced because his information was that 30% EVMs had glitches. "No developed country is using EVMs as they are prone to manipulation. We have hence been demanding that we revert to the ballot paper system," Naidu told reporters after casting his vote at a polling station in Undavalli village in state capital region Amaravati.

When Andhra chief electoral officer Gopal Krishna Dwivedi cast his vote in Tadepalli, the VVPAT machine did not function.

This is the first time the general elections were held in Andhra Pradesh after it was bifurcated, and the second assembly elections. Earlier the state had 42 seats, and this year the state polls happened in 25 seats. Over 10.15 lakh voters voted for as many as 2,118 and 319 candidates for the 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats respectively.
