Christmas nightmare: When 'Santa' threw acid on a mother and child in Kerala

A young mother and her differently-abled child were hoping to have a wonderful Christmas like everyone else. But it turned into a horrific nightmare for them in Kerala. 

On Christmas Eve, the 29-year-old daughter of Robert Velichanam from Embettu near Pariyaram, was going to attend the midnight mass with her seven-year-old son Abhishek. As Rimsy and Abhishek approached the St Francis Church, a Santa Claus appeared in front of them suddenly. The person dressed as Santa Claus threw acid on her and her son who was sleeping on her shoulder said a report in Malayala Manorama.

Rimsy screamed and her relatives came to help her. But by then the accused had run away. The police from Pariyaram who are investigating found a Santa cap and mask at the spot.

Rimsy and her son were admitted in Pariyaram Medical College, but later shifted to Mangaluru hospital where they are being treated for serious burns.
