Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said the 'Chintan Shivir' (brainstorming session) at the Timber Trail resort in Himachal Pradesh would not be an "excursion" and asserted that a blueprint of a "new Haryana" would be prepared.

The session, set to be held from December 15 to 17, faced flak from the opposition, which dubbed it as "holidaying in the hills".

"Blueprint of a new Haryana would be prepared through deliberations on development at the Shivir," Khattar said here, adding, "Various ongoing development works and other schemes will also be reviewed."

The BJP government is making all out efforts to bring a positive change in the system, the chief minister said.

"A blueprint to take the state and the society further ahead on the path of economic development in the next two years would be prepared during the Shivir. Various welfare policies and laws would also be deliberated upon in the Shivir," he said in Rohtak.

Asked about the opposition's criticism that the session to be held at a luxury private resort was a waste of public money, Khattar said, "The chintan shivir is not being organised for the purpose of excursion."

Former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the ruling BJP's concern should have been the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and not "holidaying in the hills". He alleged that the government was wasting public money.

Taking a dig at Hooda, Haryana Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister O P Dhankar said it was a tradition in the BJP to take collective decision from 'chintan' (brainstorming).

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters about the claim made in a new show of a US-based science channel that the 'Ram Setu' between India and Sri Lanka was man-made, Khattar said "Shri Ram Setu's existence has been confirmed, but it is unfortunate that the leaders of the Congress party are refusing these facts."

Khattar attacked the opposition parties in Haryana, saying they dub organising festivals like Gita Jayanti as futile exercises.

He also hit out at the opposition for negating the existence of mythical Saraswati river. "The Congress has always been negating the mythological, literary and historical facts," he said.

"The leaders of the Congress party should think twice before making any statement. It seems that they have no interest in spreading the values in the society and it has become their habit to make comments on our mythological and literary heritage which have earned recognition at international level," he added.
