This may come as a surprise to you, but women between the age group of 200 to 500 years are sewing clothes and riding cycles in Chhattisgarh. Yes, you read it correct, because the beneficiaries of the Chhattisgarh government's two welfare schemes - the Mukhyamantri Silai (sewing) Machine and the Cycle Sahayata Yojanas - are none other than women aged between 200 and 500 years.

The information, which may be called as the perpetual scam in waiting, has been revealed by RTI information obtained by activist Sanjeev Aggarwal. The details provided by the Chhattisgarh Labour Department had raised doubts about the real beneficiaries of the Rs 40 crore schemes.

According to the reports, to help women labourers working in the unorganised sector, the two schemes for distribution of free sewing machines and cycles were launched last year on the eve of the Assembly polls. The object of the cycle scheme was to benefit women in the age group of 18-35 years, and free sewing machines were for women in the age group of 35-60 years. However, the data shows that the age group criteria weren't followed at all.

The report further says that in Raipur, around 19,399 sewing machines were distributed to women in the unorganised sector. The list of beneficiaries includes 6,189 women aged 114 years, six women aged 202 years, three women aged 212 years old, and two aged 282 years. Interestingly, at least 14 women are shown above 300 years, and seven in their 400s. The age of one woman was even mentioned as 532 years.
