The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered two cases relating to possession and circulation of 'sex CD' allegedly involving Chhattisgarh Minister Rajesh Munat. The legislator had filed a complaint against senior journalist Vinod Verma alleging that he was blackmailing him.

The case came to light after Verma was arrested from his house in Indirapuram in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.Verma claimed that Chhattisgarh's BJP government was framing him as he possessed a 'sex CD' involving the state PWD Minister.

In October, Munat had claimed that the video was fake and urged Chief Minister Raman Singh for a high-level inquiry.

CBI took up the case on the request of Chhattisgarh government and further notification from Centre. The probe agency has taken over the investigation of both the cases which were earlier registered by Chhattisgarh Police.

The first case was registered under Section 384 and 506 of the IPC at Pandri Police Station, Raipur on October 26 against unknown persons alleging that the complainant received a call on his phone wherein the unknown caller said that he possessed a pornographic video of his 'boss' and threatened to distribute CDs of the same in case his demand of ransom was not met.

The other case was registered under Section 67 (A) of IT Act at Civil Lines Police Station, Raipur on October 27 against Bhupesh Baghel and Vinod Verma, both residents of Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and others on allegations that the accused persons had circulated complainant's alleged pornographic video on various social media platforms and distributed its CD to malign his character and to obtain political mileage.
