In a case of  mistaken identity, a parody Facebook account of author Chetan Bhagat has landed the real one in trouble on social media.

The parody account, owned by someone with the handle @iamchetanbhagat (as opposedto @chetanbhagat.fanpage, the official Facebook account) in its 'About' section says, "Chetan Bhagat- The Man Of Masses :) Author of 10 Fantafabulous Books. Trying to inspire India _/\ (Sic)."

The post, shared by the parody account on April 26, faced flak for being 'sexist', and people began trolling the author, even though he didn't write the post.

With sentences such as “When she takes time to serve you breakfast, let her. She has kept aside the burnt toast for herself and is taking the time to serve her family the nicest ones she could manage.”

The post hit a sensitive nerve among many who then bashed the author. “Seriously Mr. Chetan Bhagat you are an absolute idiot!! What stupid things to say – the magnanimous, idiotic male “allowing” the poor browbeaten little woman to take her time… can you get more patronising and silly!!” wrote one Facebook user.

Unfortunately for Chetan Bhagat, he was trolled on this occasion for no fault of his. Several media organisations, too, shared the parody post, took it down and took to Twitter to put out a clarification or an apology.
