Chennai man dies while capturing lightning photograph on his phone

The 43-year-old Chennai man had a tragic death in Thiruvallur district when he tried to click a photo on his smartphone camera of the lightning.

There are many ways that things can go absolutely wrong. We have heard stories of people who died while taking selfies as they lost balance while taking pictures and fell into a pond, river or ocean. This story of a man who had an unfortunate death while clicking pictures is rather similar. This time the victim was not clicking any selfies but was trying to capture a perfect angle of the flash of lightning in the sky on his mobile phone in Tamil Nadu.

The 43-year-old Chennai man had a tragic death in Thiruvallur district when he tried to click a photo on his smartphone camera of the lightning. The deceased identified as Ramesh collapsed as soon as the thunder struck him. His chest and face suffered major injuries and he died on the spot.

In a separate incident, two school children were killed on Wednesday when lightning struck in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district, police said.

The deceased, who were returning from school, fell unconscious as the lightning struck and some pedestrians noticed them and rushed them to a hospital, where they were declared brought dead, they said. The boys were identified as Ravi Kumar (17) and Bheelo (17), students of a government Jadera school.

In another case of natrural disaster death, a woman and her two sons were killed in lightning strike in Korba district on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Saila village last evening when Rania Bai (44) andher sons Tulachand (20) and Ishwar Singh (15) were working in a field, a local police official said.
They took cover under a tree to escape rain when lightning hit the spot.

Villagers rushed them to a local hospital where all three were declared dead on arrival.
