DMK chief M Karunanidhi was on Thursday night admitted to Cauvery hospital in Chennai again, just a week after he was discharged.

Hospital authorities said that he was admitted with breathing difficulty due to throat and lung infection, but he is stable and being treated.
Karunanidhi was discharged from the Cauvery hospital on December 7, where he was admitted on December 1 for dehydration and allergy related issues. The hospital in a statement said that Karunanidhi has improved substantially after medical treatment.
"All his vital signs and biochemical parameters have normalised now. He has been advised rest and Cauvery Hospital will continue to assess and provide the necessary medical and nursing care to facilitate his recuperation at home," it added.
The DMK chief was reportedly down with allergy-related ailment for over a month.
