Chennai: 3-year-old girl sexually assaulted & killed, body found in garbage

In a shocking incident, the body of a three-year-old girl was found in a garbage yard in Tiruvottiyur on Sunday, reported Deccan Chronicle. Her mouth had been stuffed with rags.

The girl was reportedly murdered after being sexually assaulted. The body was found when the conservancy workers who were unloading garbage spotted the body of the child and alerted Tiruvottiyur police.

On Saturday, the child was playing with her 5-year-old brother while their mother was ill and their father was at work. However, when the mother realised that her daughter was missing, a complaint was lodged in Ernavur police.

The child has been identified by the parents. The presence of male body fluid was confirmed in preliminary autopsy findings, said the DC report.

A neighbour, who reportedly lured the girl to his house after buying her ice cream, is suspected of having committed the offence. He is being interrogated.
