DS Kulkarni popularly known as DSK and his wife Hemanti are already in police custody after they were arrested on February 17 in a financial cheating case.
Police have slapped the charges under section 3 and 4 of the Maharashtra Protection of interest of Depositors (MPID) act along with section 420, 406 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code for cheating after nearly 4,000 complaint applications of alleged cheating received by the EOW from DSK's depositors.
As a part of the action, the officials of EOW today seized six imported vehicles of DSK. Assistant police commissioner (EOW) Nilesh More told DNA, "We have seized six imported vehicles belonged to Kulkarni which includes one superbike. The total value of these vehicles is in crores. The seizure was a part of the action in a cheating case which Kulkarni and his wife are facing."
According to police, they are now further looking to auction these vehicles. "Under MPID Act, we are now preparing a report to auction these vehicles for the recovery the part of the outstanding amount which he is payable to depositors. The report will be submitted to the court and on the basis of court's direction, further action will be taken," More added.
