In a rare incident, a policeman assaulted a man not because the citizen was involved in any crime or violation of law but rather opposite. The policeman was caught while violating a law.

No, the policeman was not involved in any bribing incident but wait-for-it, he was busy talking to his wife over the phone while driving! Ouch!

When a resident in Chandigarh decided to be a man-of-the-hour and question the Chandigarh police head constable, who was using mobile phone while driving, he was responded with a slap across his face. Yes, you heard it right! The policeman slapped the resident for interrupting him while he was on the phone talking to his wife while riding a motorbike.

“When I confronted him about the traffic rule violation, he slapped me,” the victim said.

Sumit Kumar spotted the Chandigarh police head constable Surinder Singh riding a motorcycle with helmet sporting it like a King's crown, rather than a head protector, and talking on the phone.

“When a common man does the same, he is challaned. But if a policemen does it, he slaps the complainant!,” the victim later said.

Kumar, who works as an event manager, said the video was shot at Sector 36/37 road in  Chandigarh.

The 29-year-old resident filed a complaint about the incident.

As the video went viral in social media, Chandigarh residents slammed the city police.

Taking note of the incident, Congress leader Manish Tewari urged Chandigarh DGP to take strict action against the offender.

“DGP Chandigarh Tejinder LUTHRA ji if video in this tweet is true plz suspend this police official for assaulting a Citizen (sic),” Tewari tweeted.
