Centre has planned to clean Yamuna and other rivers in the country on the lines of the project on Ganga, Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday.

"As we have been able to develop more plans for Ganga, we will take it to Yamuna and other rivers all over the country," he told reporters on the sidelines of a function here. He said the Ganga River Basin Organisation (National Ganga River Basin Authority) met on March 26 and Prime Minister had given directions on how to go about systematically in stopping sewage and effluent from being let into Ganga.

Goyal was here to take part in the golden jubilee celebrations of city-based Dwarkadoss Goverdhandoss Vaishnav College.

Praising the college for its contribution to NSS and NCC, he recalled his student days and said: "The two sources from which I got my maximum value systems -- are the RSS and the boy scouts... I am really thrilled when I read that you continue to have moral education," he said.

Lamenting that moral education was not being offered by many educational institutions, he said talking about it was considered bad.

"It is the bane of our society that today somebody talks about moral education, he is considered backward. If today HRD Minister wants to try and tell a school management that there should be some spiritual education, some moral education, you will have red and black flags and people will say this is backward education and this is taking the country back," he said.

"I would urge institutions such as Dwarkadoss Vaishnav to offer moral education. It does not have to be religious.
There is no demand that it should follow some particular faith or the other. It is just teaching the person what are good things of life," he added.
