Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee hit out on the Central government on Tuesday at an event put up on the 121st birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose alleging that not all his files have been declassified, and for not declaring January 23 a national holiday.

"How did Netaji disappear? Will won't the nation know the truth as to what happened to this national leader? It is a shame that we don't know what happened to him after 1941. Files related to that have not been declassified. The next generation has the right to know and there should be a time-bound investigation into what happened to him," Mamata said. She said that she had put forward a small request of declaring Netaji's birthday as a national holiday and the Centre could not even do that. "The national freedom fighter is yet to be paid his due respect. The state had announced it as a national holiday, years ago. The present government at the Centre is unable to show any respect to him and it is best not to expect anything from them," she said.

She also criticised the Centre for doing away with the planning commission. Along with the Indian National Army and the Azad Hind Fauz, Netaji had also put up the planning commission for the welfare of the people of India but later it was discarded.
