Rajasthan Congress Chief Sachin Pilot on Saturday opposed imposing of Swachh Bharat cess by the Centre saying the government was putting "burden" on people.
"The decision to impose cess is wrong. In the BJP rule, commodity prices are skyrocketing and the government is still putting burden on people by levying new cess," Pilot said.
"All such decision shows failure of economic policies of the government. The decision of imposing Swachh Bharat cess is an indication that the government is looking forward to shift public services on PPP mode," he said.
The government has decided to impose a 0.5% cess on all taxable services to fund the Swachh Bharat program which will make services expensive.
