Parliament logjam: Centre picks 2 Ministers to cool Opposition parties

The Centre asked two junior ministers Vijay Goel and Arjun Ram Meghwal on Thursday to talk to the Opposition and agitating MPs of AIADMK and TRS to ensure smooth conduct in Parliament.

AIADMK and TRS MPs have been protesting for the past few days. Parliament remained paralysed for the 14th day on Thursday, again preventing two pending no-confidence motions from being taken up for discussion.

Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu expressed displeasure over the conduct of the members and said the entire country is watching the ugly scenes.

In the Lok Sabha, as soon as the House re-assembled at noon after its adjournment, members from TRS and AIADMK again trooped into the Well, raising slogans in support of their demands.

TRS members were demanding increase in the reservation quota for jobs in Telangana, while AIADMK wanted the setting up of a Cauvery Management Board.

LS Speaker Sumitra Mahajan expressed her inability to take up the no-confidence Motion moved by YSR Congress and TDP.
