Centre not providing adequate funds for development: Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday accused the Centre of giving step motherly treatment to the state by not "providing" adequate funds for the developmental works.

Addressing public meeting at Kihar in Chamba district, the Chief Minister said that the government was committed to provide all the basic facilities in rural areas but enough funds are not been provided. Singh said that Himachal was a pioneer State in hydel power generation and many power projects were being executed in the State.

He said that the power tariff has been frozen in the state for industrial consumers for next five years and as a result big corporate houses were willing to invest in the State. He said that due to the farsightedness and policies of the successive governments, Himachal Pradesh has emerged as the leading Hill State in the Country and was due to the efforts of the Congress Prime Ministers that Himachal was given its due share to carry out developmental works.

Successive Congress governments in the State implemented the policies for the welfare of the people and the Union government was giving sufficient funds for speedy development of the state, the CM said.

The Chief Minister announced opening of Primary School at Maura and upgradation of Primary School Langoi to Middle School. He also assured to take up the matter with health department and GVK to start 108 Ambulance service.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid foundation of double storey building of GSSS, Kihar to be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.86 crore and also inaugurated the Rs 1.90 crore building of GSSS, Sherpur and Primary Health Centre at Sundla completed at a cost of Rs 85 lakh.

AICC Secretary and Local MLA, Asha Kumari said that it was a day of victory as Virbhadra Singh was exonerated by the Supreme Court in CD case which was framed against him by the previous BJP government.
