To boost and strengthen coordination between security forces, investigative, and intelligence agencies, the Central government has directed the agencies to synchronise their flow of information and integrate the various interfaces.

The decision was taken after Prime Minister Narendra Modi pushed for better coordination among all the agencies and security forces.

"The Prime Minister has expressed that the security, intelligence and investigating agencies should work together and for that, they need to cooperate and synchronise themselves. He also urged that the websites of these bodies be upgraded, and made more people-friendly and integrated," said a senior IPS officer adding that the result of that is clearly visible in Jammu and Kashmir, where proper coordination enabled the arrests and encounters.

In a letter addressed to all the forces and probing agencies earlier this month, a senior officer of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) said the Prime Minister has expressed that "all interfaces should be synchronised" and "websites should be upgraded and linked to each other".

The Intelligence Bureau also sought minute details about the websites of agencies and security forces. "Details like number of visitors, number of people-friendly links, links of other security and investigating agencies on the websites, when was it constituted, whether it is dynamic or static, etc," said a senior officer.

Modi was annoyed to find that different agencies working in the same field had come up with different reports, creating confusion, inconsistency, and mistakes.

"There were major goof-ups during the UPA regime and this government doesn't want a repeat of that," said the IPS officer.
