The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has recovered Rs25 crore in cash during its nationwide raids on Hindalco offices on Tuesday.
The money was reportedly recovered from Hindalco’s Delhi office.
According to Kanchan Prasad, CBI spokesperson, the Hindalco officers failed to provide documents to support the source of Rs25 crore. Hence, the unaccounted money was handed over to the Income Tax department for further probe, Prasad added.
On Tuesday, the CBI lodged a case against industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla and former coal secretary PC Parekh on charges of criminal conspiracy and corruption in connection with alleged irregularities in allocation of coal blocks eight years back.
