Ceasefire violations: Pak envoy Abdul Basit blames India even as firing continues

Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit, who was summoned by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) over the recent ceasefire violations, on Sunday blamed India for the cross border firings and said that the Pakistan Government is concerned about it."We are concerned about the ceasefire violations. In the month of July and August, there have been close to around 70 ceasefire violations from this side of the working boundary. We are obviously very concerned about it," Basit told the media here.

"Our side would like to have a more effective mechanism to determine who indulges in unprovoked firing," he added. 

Heavy shelling and firing by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district yesterday left at least six civilians dead and 15 others injured.
