Pakistan's border forces, the Pakistani Rangers, are reported to have violated ceasefire on Friday morning, after they fired a few rounds at Indian positions on the Arnia sector. The incident happened only a few hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Jammu to address a BJP rally.

According to a senior Border Security Forces officer, Pakistani forces fired a few rounds at Indian position at the Pital border outpost in the Arnia sub-sector. The BSF, however, did not return fire and observed calm.

This incident happened in the midst of a gun battle between terrorists in military fatigues and the security forces in the Arnia sector itself. The militants have said to have occupied an Indian Army bunker in that sector. According to reports, three soldiers have been gunned down by the militants. Four civilians have also been killed in the crossfire. Three militants had also been killed throughout the course of the gun battle over the past day.

This morning, security forces launched an assault in which the fourth militant has also been reportedly killed, according to statements from the security forces.
