The Gurgaon Police on Tuesday claimed to have cracked the murder and robbery case in less than 24 hours after the ghastly crime was committed at Sector 4. Three of the five accused, including a woman, have been arrested for allegedly committing the crime in which an 80-year-old woman was murdered on Monday.

Palam Vihar Crime Branch also recovered 44 silver coins, five silver utensils, 4 bangles, 2 necklaces, 1 bracelet, and 2 rings. “The other three accused have also been identified, but as of now we don’t want their names to be revealed.

Teams are working and we will nab them soon,” said Gurgaon police commissioner Alok Mittal.

The arrested are Shambhu (35) and Gaurav (19), both residents of Shahpur Jat in Delhi, and Shambhu’s sister Lucky (40) who allegedly planned the crime. The accused allegedly ransacked house number 1887 in Sector 4 and took away jewellery and cash. They also murdered Prabhawati, 80, the oldest member of Gogia family, who was alone at home at the time of robbery. Her son, daughter-in-law and grand daughters were out for work at that time.

“The CCTV camera installed by a neighbour was the key to cracking the case as we received a clip which gave us clue about these people.  After entering the home, they tied the old woman’s hands, legs and also put cloth in her mouth which eventually resulted in her death,” said Mittal.

According the police, Shambhu and Lucky are siblings and their sister Manisha used to work as domestic help in Gogia household six months ago. Lucky had replaced her sister later and allegedly stole Rs 8,000.
