CBSE Std XII results out, pass % dips to 82

None of the students from the state are among the top seven rankers

The Central Board of Secondary Education declared the Std XII board exam results on Monday, and compared to last year, the performance, as indicated by pass percentage, has come down. The overall pass percentage this year is 82, which is a dip from last year's 82.70.

Unfortunately for Maharashtra, none of the students here could make it to the top seven.

The all-India topper is M Gayatri, a student of New Green Field School, Saket, Delhi, and she has scored 496 out of 500 marks. The rankers across India are Mythili Mishra from Dehradun, B Arjun from Thiruvananthapuram, and Saurabh Bhambri from Delhi, who have scored 495 out of 500.

And do drum up the same exam story, this year too, girls have been ahead of boys with a pass percentage of 87.56 and the boys 77.77 this year in CBSE board 12th result declared on Monday.

In total, 10,40,368 candidates registered for the Std 12 exam this year, held between held from March 2 till 20 April.

The registration numbers have increased by 1.2% over last year. Overall, the pass percentage of Thiruvananthapuram region is 95.41, the highest as compared to other regions. The number of candidates registered from Chennai region, which covers Maharashtra, is 52,901 and the number of those who appeared are 52,416.

Special category
As far as students in the special category - such as those with visual, hearing or orthopaedic impairment, and those who are spastic, dyslexic or autistic - go, a total of 2,076 candidates appeared or the exam and 1,766 passed, making the pass percentage 85.07. Commendably, 15 such students scored more than 95% and 127 more than 90%.

The most number of candidates, that is, 1,039, under this head are from Delhi.

From Maharashtra, Chinmaya Sahoo from Pune and Alrice Alva from Navi Mumbai have scored more than 90%. Chinmaya, who has a hearing impairment scored 477, while Alrice of Don Bosco Senior School, who is blind, scored 471 marks.

Procedure for verification of marks
(1) Applications should be made online within seven days, from May 27 to June 2, and fee is Rs300 for one subject.
(2) Fee will be received only through Gateway. Candidates will have to deposit the fee by visiting the specified bank branch in case of e-challan.
(3) For details, refer to the notice on the CBSE website www.cbse.nic.in.

Getting evaluated answer sheets
Photocopies of evaluated answer sheets will be provided to candidates who request it, and to those who have applied for verification of marks.
Applications for obtaining the evaluated answer sheets will be accepted by the Board from June 13 to 17 .
