Among the 12 people arrested by Jharkhand Police in the CBSE paper leak case, one is a coaching institute co-owner Satish Pandey, allegedly the district convenor of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, a student organisation affiliated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

However, the ABVP has denied any links with Pandey, who runs a coaching centre called 'Study Vision'.

ABVP state secretary Roshan Kumar said there is no district convenor in Chatra. "There was a convention in February following which Pandey was relieved of his post. A new committee is in process of formation. The organisation may have many members but not all are office-bearers. Such reports adversely affect the ABVP's image," Kumar told reporters.

Some other senior functionaries of the ABVP denied that Pandey, in his late 20s, had anything to with the organisation at all. "He was a member of the organisation but was removed last year after he became a co-owner of a coaching institution. Only students can be a member of the ABVP," said another ABVP Jharkhand leader.

A Jharkhand ABVP leader also dismissed Pandey as any well-known or contributing member of the ABVP. "There are so many students who take membership of the ABVP. Pandey was not among those who stands out in the organisation," he said.

The Congress had alleged that Pandey was an ABVP functionary, giving it a political colour. "Now that the name of ABVP member Satish Pandey is involved, we are eager to see whether ABVP will take action against this 'culprit'. Time for them to prove their real 'concern'," said the NSUI, the student wing of the Congress.
