The confessions of those arrested by the Jharkhand Police in the CBSE paper leak case have pointed the probe towards Patna, from where they claim the Class X Mathematics paper was leaked and reached to them.

The information shared by the Jharkhand Police has raised question over the CBSE's claim of the paper leak being limited to Delhi and Haryana, bringing uncertainty to the fate of the 1.85 lakh students in the CBSE Patna zone.

On Sunday, DNA had reported that arrests in Jharkhand may lead to a re-exam in the Patna zone, comprising Bihar and Jharkhand, and with two of the nine arrested students from Bihar, the possibilities have increased. The CBSE officials in the Patna zonal office though have no information about it yet.

The investigation in Jharkhand had commenced on the complaints of an exam centre, Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya in Chatra, where the examinees were found in possession of chits in which the answers of Mathematics paper were written. "In the preliminary investigation, we have been told that the paper was reached to them through WhatsApp from Patna. No link with Delhi has yet been established," Akhilesh B Variar, Chatra SP told reporters.

The Jharkhand Police have so far arrested 12 persons, including two coaching institute directors and nine students, after portions of CBSE's Class X Mathematics papers were found in their possession during the investigations. They also said that the coaching institute owners also helped their students teach in the social science paper.
