The CBI will conduct a second autopsy on the slain Circle Officer of Kunda (Pratapgarh) Zia-ul-Haq. The CBI team, which arrived in Balipur village of Kunda on Thursday led by DIG Anurag Garg, made this clear to the local police, sources here said. The forensic team of the CBI will also come to the village soon, the sources added.

The Balipur pradhan Nanhe Yadav, his brother Suresh Yadav and the CO (Kunda) Zia-ul-Haq had been killed in mob violence in the village on Saturday last. UP Food and Civil Supplies Minister Raja Bhaiya had to resign after the CO’s wife Parveen Azad named him as an accused in her police complaint.

The first post mortem analysis done by three doctors earlier had been surrounded by controversy over the number of bullets fired at the Deputy SP. The empty of the bullet which killed the police officer is syet to be found. There is also no final word yet on the weapon which had killed him. Zia’s wife had also raised questions over the PM report.

The CBI has registered four FIRs in the matter. The first FIR is about the pradhan’s murder, the second about his brother’s killing, the third about the police official’s murder and the fourth one relates to the arson and violence in the village on Saturday last.

Meanwhile, reports reaching here said virtually all the menfolk in the 250-odd houses in the village had fled after Raja Bhaiya’s threatened them of dire consequences if they spoke out against him or his associates who had attacked the village.

This is the third CBI case against Raja Bhaiya. Earlier, he has been named in UP’s Rs 40,000-crore foodgrain scam relating to 2005-07 when he was Food and Civil Supplies Minister in the Mulayam Singh regime. The other CBI probe against him relates to the mysterious accident which caused the death of a Deputy SP RS Pande who had raided his house in Kunda during the last Mayawati regime and recovered an AK-47.

Mayawati had slapped the draconian POTA against Raja and put him behind bars for a long time. Five-time MLA from Kunda, Raja Bhaiya still faces eight criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, abduction and land grabbing. Several cases against him were withdrawn during the last Mulayam Singh regime.
