The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the multi-crore-rupees Saradha chit fund scam summoned Trinamool Congress all-India general secretary Subrata Bakshi on Monday. The investigating agency sought details of the accounts of the Trinamool Congress from the year 2010-2014. The agency also wants to know from Bakshi the donations received by the party in the last two years.

According to sources, the investigating agency sent across the notice to Bakshi through an e-mail seeking details of party’s income, expenditure and donations within seven days. This also includes advertisements, sale of party mouthpiece 'Jaago Bangla'.

The notice has been served under Section 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

This notice comes three days after CBI sent a notice to then general secretary of the party - Mukul Roy. In his reply to the CBI, Roy had said that he no longer holds the position of general secretary of the party since February and hence cannot furnish party’s account details. Roy reportedly asked CBI to contact the current general secretary – Bakshi.

This development comes amid allegations from opposition parties that the Trinamool Congress received donations from Trinetra Consultant Pvt Ltd. In its filings with the Election Commission of India, the Trinamool Congress said it had received a donation of Rs.1.4 crore from Trinetra Consultant.

Currently, the Enforcement Directorate has taken up this case and investigating this matter.
