In yet another instance of misuse of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name, the CBI registered a case against unidentified persons who sent an email using the PM’s photograph to a civil surgeon of Ludhiana-based civil hospital. The letter asked the surgeon to look into a complaint against a doctor regarding medical report of his injury. In October, the CBI had registered a case against unidentified persons over a loan scheme
In a communiqué to CBI, PK Issar, Assistant Director, PMO has stated that using the photograph of the PM in one of the emails, the impersonator was requesting the hospital to look into a complaint filed by Milan Soon with the hospital against doctor Nisha Jain. ‘It clarified that no such email ID is used. “As such, this is a clear case of impersonation. Accordingly, the CBI is requested to lodge a complaint about taking further necessary legal action,” the communiqué said.
The communiqué was sent to the CBI on August 31. The agency filed a case under IPC section 419 and 66 D of the IT Act, 2000.
