Carcasses of 9 peacocks found in Rajasthan

Carcasses of nine peacocks were found in the forest area of Akhtasa which falls under the Darrah wildlife sanctuary in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan,recently, a wildlife conservation NGO claimed.

In its complaint filed with the Superintendent of Police, Jhalawar, the People for Animals Conservation and Protection - state chief Babulal Jaju demanded that an FIR be lodged in the matter as the carcases were found in the forest areas on May 16.

PFACP also urged the state forest and wildlife department to take cognisance of the incident and contain the illegal poaching of the National bird in the Darrah wildlife area of Jhalawar district, Jaju said.

Police and the agencies concerned should take action and arrest those who found guilty under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972, he demanded.
